Slowly starts coming to house very late and Ji-li's mom and grandma wait for him to tell the stories about why was he late. So they always went inside the bathroom and talked to each other because that was the only place which was safe for them to talk.
One day while they were talking to each other in the bathroom. Uncle someone came and gave a voice from outside saying Lao-Jiang so Ji-li opened the door and when she saw him she gave a cry because his face was totally bruisd as if he had been beaten up. So Ji-li's mom and dad went down to get his bycical so that nobody in the neighbour hood sees it and also will not get into trouble of helping a beaten up person. Then after that day they only hoped that their dad should come back home really securely. Then one day their dad didn't return so Ji-li's grandma and her mother were very scared. That night he didn't come back. So then Ji-li went to take iformation. And she had found out dad wad locked up. So she caame to her house and told this news to evryone in her house.So she was sent to her dad's theater to see him and give him some new and warm clothes. And everybody in the house thought that uncle someone told the theater people that her dad listened to foreign radio which was a rumor. And this was all told by a man know as THIN FACE.
And at the end her dad come back home and get some new clothes because there was still a blame on him that he was a rightist. And the radio problem was also solved by thin face. because he was the one who found out that someoneelse did that and uncle someone did not do anything at all. They were all happy because they could finally see the missing part of the family. But not really.

This chapter is important to the book because if this part wasn't there then there would be not much conflict in the book. Also the story would not build up that well. And we will not know what Ji-li's dad did wrong or why was he blamed and what should confess for.
